Big City Blues is the latest release from Richmond, VA's Billy
Hatley. The album is filled with good time rhythm and blues that is supported
by top notch musicianship and appearances by local notables like bluesman
Terry Garland.
So you say you detest rock "n" roll blues music? have you listened to Billy Hatley's "Big City Blues"? OK, then don't talk to me until you do. A gleaming, terrifically produced collection of hip-shaking tunes speckled with crisp bass, the album would be a great companion anywhere - in a bar, in a car, heck even on the front porch. All of the songs are tremendous fun (almost as much as the band's live performances), thanks primarily to the musician's outstadning abilities (check out the guitar jam at the end of "Elvis' Motorcycle") Hatley's whiskey soaked vocal certainly don't hurt either. - Richmond Times Dispatch, March 27, 1997 author unknown |
